Girl Gang Music’s mission is to promote female inclusion in all aspects of the industry, to celebrate women who are already thriving in music, and, ultimately, to develop a pipeline for girls and young women to confidently get involved in music through mentorship and community.

The mission for Girl Gang Music is to:

  • Promote female inclusion in all aspects of the music industry (creative & business);
  • Connect women already killing it the music industries in all capacities to foster growth and support their business and creative goals;
  • Celebrate and connect women and nonbinary individuals already thriving in music (on the creative and business side of the music industry) in all capacities and;
  • To develop a pipeline for girls and young women to confidently get involved in music through mentorship, community, and shared experience.

 

SITM is a nonprofit organization increasing the number of women working in music – songwriters, engineers, producers, artists and industry professionals. They are an independent, global network that operates as a unifying organization for women from across the industry, creating strength and impact on a global scale. As an umbrella nonprofit, SITM provides resources and support for female-focused initiatives that are working to create meaningful change – both through our own programs, as well as external efforts around the world.

Programs include an all-female songwriting series, industry database of women creators and mentorship program, with more to come. Our initiatives serve women in the industry today while fostering the development of future generations. Check out their work.

Have you registered your original music with a performance rights organization (PRO)? You really should.

ASCAP has been around since 1914, BMI since 1939, and SESAC since 1930. PROs’ sole purpose are to collect royalties for the use of your music in all mediums (Film, TV, Ads, Radio) including live music performances. These companies are incredible resources for artists and they are leaders in the efforts to ensure fair payment for the works of songwriters.
